The Lady Tigers lost a 63-59 overtime heartbreaker to the Cannon County Lionettes on Jan. 19. The Lionettes led an 18-12 first period, and again outscored the Lady Tigers in the second, this time 18-11. With a 36-23 deficit to make up after halftime, DeKalb scored 16 and allowed Cannon 10 points in the third. They had slipped to within seven points of CCHS, and the score stood at 46-39 Lionettes and the beginning of the fourth.
The Lady Tigers clawed their way back to tie the game 57-up at the final buzzer. DeKalb could only manage two overtime points, however, and six points from Cannon put them ahead 63-59.
Ashli Chew scored 24 points for the Lady Tigers, leading the offensive effort and going 10-for-13 at the foul line. Jailyn Bolding put in 19 points, hitting three three-pointers and going 2-for-4. Morgan Pedigo contributed nine points, all on three-point shots. Hannah Panter scored five points and went 2-for-2, and Joni Robinson added a two-pointer.
The Jan. 22 game against Upperman was snowed out and rescheduled for Feb. 1. The Tiger teams traveled to face Livingston Academy Tuesday evening, and will host York Institute Friday night, with the Lady Tigers tipping off at 6 p.m.
