What appeared to be a laugher for most of the game got serious in the fourth quarter for the Lady Tigers as they dug in their claws and held off a late Livingston Academy charge for a 61-49 win this past Tuesday.

It appeared the rout was on in the opening stages of the first quarter as the Lady Tigers canned four three-pointers from beyond the arch with Emme Colwell owning two of the long distance bombs, accounting for six of her eight points on the night. The hot shooting gave the home squad a 19-12 advantage going into the second where Lydia Brown opened up, leading her teams in scoring in the second stanza with six. She had 19 points on the night.

DeKalb owned a 33-26 advantage as they took the court for the second half. Kadee Ferrell owned the third, leading the way with six points, single-handedly outscoring the Lady Wildcats in the third as the girls in blue could only must five points in the entire quarter.

The stagnant Livingston offense was caused by a press thrown on them by the Lady Tigers, prompting several turn overs and an abundance of poor shot selection. The end result was the Lady Tigers holding a 44-31 lead going into the fourth frame.

However, the Lady Wildcats figured out the press by the fourth and were able to cut deep into the lead, closing to as close as four midway through the quarter thanks to their hosts only canning three field goals the entire period. But, what they lacked from the field, the Lady Tigers gained back at the free throw line as DeKalb went to the charity stripe 16 times in the fourth quarter, hitting 11 of their opportunities. It was enough to rebuff the late Livingston charge and move their record to 15-6 on the season and a third place 7-2 in the district.

Helping Brown carry the scoring load was Ferrell with 15, Mya Ruch with nine, Emme Colwell with eight, Joni Robinson and Kenzie France both with four and Maddison Parsley with two.
