Lady Tigers season ends with loss to Central Magnet

The DCHS Lady Tiger soccer team won in a battle of the fourth and fifth place teams in the district on Oct. 8, handing Cannon County an 8-1 beating in the first post season game of 2016. The contest was held at Vanhooser field in Smithville.

 

Haleigh Bass topped the DeKalb scorecard with five goals, scoring in the fifth, 20th, 26th 45th and 78th minutes of the match. Taylor Foutch scored twice, in the 29th and 67th minutes.

 

Nichole Walker added a goal for the Lady Tigers in the 49th minute, and Walker, Taylor Spare and Sophie Hackett contributed assists.

 

Lady Tiger Goalkeeper Meghan Brandt recorded three saves. Amanda Blanco put Cannon’s lone goal in in the 61st minute.

 

DeKalb’s season ended in the first round of district tourney play, however, when Central Magnet of Murfreesboro gave the Lady Tigers a 7-0 beating on CM’s home field on Oct. 10.

 

While Brandt stopped a whopping 14 scores at the goal, CM’s Madison Shea put three in, Sarah Peters scored twice and Ella Chesney and Jenny Peters scored a goal each to give the team from Murfreesboro the win.

 

The Lady Tigers finish up 8-7-2 on the season.
