The DeKalb Lady Tigers soccer team met Middle Tennessee Christian on MTC’s home field Thursday, coming home with a 9-0 victory for their second game of the season.

Three minutes into the game Angeles Soto scored an impressive first goal of the night. Nichole Walker drove a shot into the back post of the goal off of a well-played assist from Angeles Soto 23 minutes into the game to put the Lady Tigers up 2-0.

The clockwork execution of the Lady Tiger midfield, composed of Taylor Spare, Brooke Roller, Lydia Trail, Haley Summers, Kamien Sparks and Jerica Braswell would find forward Haleigh Bass in front of the goal again in the 24th, 30th and 37th minutes, with Lydia Trail assisting. With three goals in the first 37 minutes, Haleigh Bass completed the "hat trick," and the Lady Tigers were up 5-0 at half time.

Early in the second half of the game, Soto would score her second goal of the night. A penalty kick taken by defender Morgan Odom 46 minutes into the game completed a power shot straight and hard into the back post of the goal, giving the Lady Tigers a 7-0 lead.

Once again, an assist from Soto provided a pass for Bass on her breakaway to complete another goal for the team. With only a minute left in the game, Soto would complete her "hat trick" for the night with Roller providing the assist.

Overall, the DeKalb soccer program showed strength in several areas. With the strong defense of Jackie Overbey, Odom, Hannah James, and captain Savannah Driver, the Lady Tigers did not give up a goal.

Both goalkeepers, Katie Hall and Jessica Billings, showed strong performances throughout the night. The Lady Tigers continued to flex their goal scoring muscles, finishing with a 9-0 victory, and wrapping up a very successful night.
