The Lady Tigers started the Watertown Christmas Tournament last Tuesday afternoon, with a win over Cheatham County with a score of 45- 34.
The Lady Tigers started out slowly, trailing behind the Lady Cubs with a score of 7-15 at the end of the first period. The second period the Lady Tigers came out hot and went on a 14-to-9 run to bring them within three points at the half with Cheatham County’s score at 24 and the Lady Tigers with 21.
The third period started off with a big three-point basket by Lady Tiger Alex Meadows to tie the game, leading DeKalb to a 30- 26 lead at the end of the quarter.
DeKalb finished strong with a 15-8 run and won the game with a final score of 45-34.
Alex Meadows led the team in scoring with 15 points. Abbey Caldwell tossed in nine, Ashley Barnes racked up seven, Chelsea Lewis and Danielle Tyson each had five points and Lauren Cripps scored four points.
The DeKalb Lady Tigers continued their play at the Watertown Christmas Tournament against the hometown team, the Purple Tigers.
The Lady Tigers went head to head with Watertown keeping even throughout the fisrt quarter with Watertown edging to a one-point advantage with the score at 11-10.
The second half proved to be slow for both teams as the two teams only scored five points each in the second quarter, making the score at half-time Watertown 16, DeKalb 15.
Watertown struck first, coming out of the half on a 4-0 run against the Lady Tigers.
The Lady Tigers rallied back to keep within three through the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Watertown began to edge out a larger lead and went on to win the game outscoring the Lady Tigers 15-10, bringing the game to a final score of 43-35.
The Lady Tigers were led in scoring by Lauren Cripps who knocked in 12, followed by Danielle Tyson who dropped eight of her own. Abbey Caldwell and Alex Meadows tossed in six each and Ashley Barnes who put in three.
The DCHS Lady Tigers played their final game in the tournament on Thursday evening against Cascade.
Lady Tiger Alex Meadows started the game with the first nine points, all of which were three-pointers.
The Lady Tigers outscored the Cascade Lady Champions 13-5.
In the second period, the team struggled with missed shots and let Cascade cut the lead down to four as the Tigers were outscored 10-6 in the second quarter with a halftime score of 19-15 DeKalb leading.
The third quarter proved to be difficult for the Tigers as Cascade pulled even with the Tigers with the score tied at 30, outscoring the Tigers 15-11.
In fourth quarter Cascade proved to be too much for The Tigers as they were again outscored 15-8.
Cascade would win the game with a final of 45-38.
Lady Tiger Alex Meadows led the Tigers in scoring with 12. Danielle Tyson bagged 10 points as Chelsea Lewis scored six points. Lauren Cripps and, Lydia Foutch both dropped four points, Abbey Caldwell scored two points.
Lady Tiger Alex Meadows was named to the All-Tournament Team, averaging 11 points per game.
The Lady Tigers will travel to Upperman in their next match up on Friday, Jan. 6, at 6 p.m.
