The DCHS Lady Tigers slid by the Livingston Academy Lady Wildcats in a 53-53 overtime barnburner Tuesday night, while the wildcats beat the Tigers 59-47.
Livingston led the Lady tigers 11-6 at the end of the first, but DeKalb scored 16 points in the second, while holding LA to six, coming back to take a 22-17 lead before the half. DeKalb took the third quarter 14-8, extending their lead to 36-25, but a fourth period by the Lady Wildcats tied the game at 43-43 at the end of regulation time.
An overtime battle saw both teams trade the lead until the Lady Tigers came out on top 53-51, with DeKalb scoring 10 points in the fifth period, and LA managing only eight.
Hannah Panter led the Lady Tigers with 13 points, hitting four three-pointers and a foul shot. Emme Colwell followed closely with 12 points, while Macy Hedge and Lydia Brown scored nine each. Mya Ruch put eight points in for DeKalb, and Sophie Cripps added two.
The Tigers trailed the Wildcats 14-11 after the first period of play, and were still down three points at halftime, with the score at 26-23 after a 12-12 second period. DeKalb bounded back to a 42-40 lead by the end of the third, but LA outscored the Tigers 19-5 in the final period, taking the win by 12 points.
Trey Jones led the Tiger offense with 20 points, while Tanner Poss put 11 on the board, and Marshal Evins added six. Austin Johnson rang in with six points for DeKalb, and Colter Norris put in three.
DeKalb County will face Upperman Friday night in Baxter, and at will meet the Gordonsville on the road Saturday night. Tipoff for the Lady Tigers games is at 6 p.m., and Tigers’ games follow.
