Lady Tigers take losses

The Lady Tigers took a loss at Jamestown Friday night when York Institute outlasted them in a 64-56 game.

 

Ashli Chew led the DeKalb offense with 17 points in the game, while Morgan Pedigo contributed 15. Joni Robinson put 10 points in for the Lady Tigers, Jailyn Bolding scored nine, and Hanah Panter added five.

 

The end of the first period saw DeKalb County down by two in a 12-10 contest. Robinson and Panter hit a three-pointer each, and Bolding and Chew sank two-point shots for DeKalb in the period.

 

The Lady Dragons took flight in the second period, however, outpacing the Lady Tigers 18-8 and taking a 30-18 lead into the second half on the game.

 

Three three-pointers from Pedigo, seven points from Robinson, and two each from Bolding and Chew brought DeKalb back to within 10 points of York. The score stood at 48-38 at the beginning of the final period.

 

DeKalb scored 18 points in the fourth on 10 Ashli Chew points, four from Bolding, and another Pedigo three-pointer. The Lady Dragons put in 16 points themselves, however, on their way to the 64-56 win.

 

For DeKalb, Chew scored 17 points on four two-point baskets and three three-pointers, going 0-for-2 from the free-throw line. Pedigo scored 15, all on three point shots. Robinson scored 10 points on two twos and two threes. Bolding hit four two-pointers and a free throw for nine points, going 1-for-2, and Panter put five on the board with a three-pointer and a two point shot.

 

Earlier in the week, the ladies from DeKalb met Livingston Academy in Smithville, suffering a 64-55 loss to the Lady Wildcats Tuesday night at the DCHS gym.

 

DeKalb held a 22-20 lead at the end of the first, and increased their lead to three points at the half. The Lady Tigers outscored Livingston 11-10 in the second, taking a 33-30 lead into the last half of the contest.

 

Livingston charged out and took a 47-40 lead by the end of the third, outscoring DeKalb 17-7 in the period. The Lady Tigers never recovered, and a 17-15 fourth period in Livingston’s favor sealed the deal, and the Lady Wildcats took a 64-55 win.

 

Bolding led DeKalb on the scoreboard against Livingston, scoring 13 points. Chew helped out with 11, and Morgan Pedigo and Macy Hedge added nine each. Robinson scored eight and Hannah Panter put in five.

 

The Lady Tigers hosted Macon County Tuesday night, and will host Smith County Thursday night at 6 p.m. They will travel to Central Magnet Friady and Saturday for the Central magent Classic beginning at 6 p.m. More on these games in next week’s Review.
