Haleigh Bass takes control of the ball. Bass scored three goals in the Lady Tigers first two regular season games.

The DeKalb County High School Lady Tiger soccer team met Community High School from Unionville on Aug. 19, coming away with a 2-2 tie.

Haleigh Bass put the first goal in for DeKalb with an assist from Chloe Braswell in the 34th minute of play, and Community High did not answer until the 60th minute, when Gracie Simmons tied the score at 1-1.

DeKalb went back ahead when Sophie Hackett scored a goal with an assist from Bass in the 69th minute, but Simmons put another one in in the 73rd minute to tie the score again at 2-2, where it remained at the final buzzer.

Goalie Meghan Brandt recorded an incredible 22 saves in the match.

Things did not go well for the Lady Tigers in their season-opening matchup against Warren County on Aug. 16. The Lady Pioneers came out on top of the Lady Tigers in a 6-2 contest.

Bass scored both DeKalb goals, one in the fourth, and one in the sixth minute of play, and Brandt stopped eight balls from entering the net. It was not enough to overcome the Warren offense, however, with Abbey Roller putting two in for the Lady Pioneers, and Sally Wilmore scoring and getting an assist. Natalie Reed, Allison Cripps and Emory Anish added goals for Warren, and Sam Ramsey recorded an assist.

The Lady tigers will travel to Smith County on Aug. 25, at 5 p.m. They will visit Livingston Academy on Aug 30 at 6:30 p.m., then will go to Jamestown to face York Institute at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 1.
