The DeKalb County High School Lady Tigers soccer team was back on the field last week, taking on the Upperman Lady Bees. The game was a makeup match due to the regularly scheduled being postponed due to the excessive heat the area had experienced.
The Lady Tigers would get on the board first with a goal by Katherine Knowles with 38:10 left in the first half. Upperman would tie things up at the 24:40 mark.
Knowles would find the net again just a minute later, at 23:24, and once again at the 16:14 mark. Kendall Davis would get a goal of her own with 9:10 left in the first half, putting DeKalb up 4-1.
In the second half, Rebekah Garcia scored with an assist by Emily Robinson with 27:26 left to play.
Upperman would manage one more goal with 1:08 left in the game, giving the Lady Tigers the 5-2 victory.
Goalie Caroline Tobitt had one save in the game, while Knowles also recorded one save.
On Tuesday, September 5, the Lady Tigers took on their old foe, Cumberland County at home. The Lady Jets would strike first, scoring at 29:53 in the first half, then again at 36:44 in the second half.
Candice Rico would get DeKalb on the board with 28:45 left to play, with and assist by Katherine Knowles, but the Lady Jets would seal the game shut with 9:39 left in the game. Cumberland would take the 3-1 win. Goalie Caroline Tobitt had four saves in the match.
