Lady Tigers win first district game

The DCHS Lady Tigers opened district play by beating Central Magnet 51-45 in Smithville Friday night.

 

DeKalb led 12-2 at the end of the first period, and increased their lead to 27-14 at halftime. The Lady Tiger advantage shot to 38-24 in the third period and went on to win the game 51-45.

 

Hannah Panter led DeKalb’s offensive effort with 20 points, hitting five three-pointers. Emme Colwell and Mya Ruch recorded 11 points each. Macy Hedge scored six points in the game, and Madison Parsley added three for the Lady Tigers.

 

The Lady Tigers also took Gordonsville down 59-22 Monday night in Smithville.

 

DeKalb jumped out to an 11-4 lead by the end of the first, and increased the margin to 26-8 by halftime. After the third, the Lady Tiger lead went to 50-15 by the end of the third, and when the final buzzer sounded, DeKalb lead 59-22.

 

Lydia Brown topped the Lady Tigers with 10 points, while Macy Hedge was close behind with nine. Hannah Panter and Emme Colwell scored eight points each, while Sophie Cripps put in seven.

 

Joni Robinson and Kenzie France recorded six points each, Mya Ruch scored three, and Nicole Coffey and Abby Evans added one point each to the Lady Tiger total.

 

The Lady Tigers traveled to Jamestown on Dec. 6 to take on York Institute, and will return to Smithville to host Cannon County Friday night at 6 p.m.
