On Dec. 9, the Lady Tigers traveled to Overton County to take on the Livingston Academy Lady Wildcats. DeKalb would fall behind early, but would keep the game close.
The Lady Tigers scored 11 in the first period, with Ashli Chew getting three two-point baskets and a free throw point, while Jailyn Bolding and Maggie Knowles each had a two-pointer. Livingston had 13 points, edging out a narrow lead.
DeKalb came away with 17 points in the second period, with Loren Cripps taking two three-point baskets and a two-pointer, while Bolding had a pair of two-pointers. Morgan Pedigo had a three-pointer, while Knowles added a two-point basket. The Lady Wildcats added to their lead, with 23 more points and a 36-28 lead at halftime.
Bolding had a three-pointer in the third period, while Chew had a two-point basket. Knowles added four points to the scoreboard off of free throws. DeKalb scored nine, while Livingston had 10, keeping the lead, 46-37.
The Lady Tigers had another nine points in the fourth, with Knowles getting two two-pointers and a point off of a free throw, while Bolding had two free throw points and a two-point basket. The Lady Wildcats sealed their victory with 14 more points, ending the game, 60-46.
Knowles was five for six on free throws, while Bolding was two for two. Chew was one for one.
On Dec. 12, the Lady Tigers were at home, taking on the York Institute Lady Dragons. DeKalb would come away with a big victory.
DeKalb took 11 points in the first period, with Knowles taking three two-point baskets, Cripps with a three-pointer, and Panter with a two-point shot. York got 12 points, and the early lead.
The Lady Tigers scored 17 in the second period, with Cripps getting three three-point baskets. Pedigo and Panter each had a three-point shot, while Knowles had a two-pointer. York was held to only eight points, giving DeKalb the lead at halftime, 28-20.
Both teams had 17 points in the third period. Chew and Pedigo each had two three-point baskets, while Cripps had a three-pointer of her own. Knowles also added a two-point shot. The Lady Tigers kept the lead, 45-37.
DeKalb pulled away in the fourth, taking 16 points, while holding York to eight. Cripps had a three-pointer and five free throw points, while Knowles had a pair of two-pointers and one free throw point. Bolding had a two-pointer, and Chew had a free throw point. DeKalb took the 61-45 win.
Cripps went five for six on free throws, while Chew was one for three. Knowles was one for four.
On Dec. 13, the Lady Tigers faced off with St. Andrews-Sewanee, and came away with a big win.
DeKalb opened up with 15 points in the first period, with Pedigo getting a pair of three-point baskets, while Chew had a three-pointer and a free throw point. Cripps also had a three-point basket, while Knowles had a two-pointer. SAS was held to only two points.
Hannah Panter was the big scorer in the second period, taking three two-pointers and two three-point baskets. Kristen Parsley had a three-pointer and a two-pointer, while Dani Meadows added a three-point basket. The Lady Tigers had 18 points, while SAS got 14, giving DeKalb a 33-16 lead at halftime.
The Lady Tigers had 13 points in the third period, with Cripps getting three three-point baskets, while Knowles had a pair of two-pointers. Sewanee was held to seven points, giving DeKalb a 46-23 lead.
DeKalb sealed their win with 10 more points in the fourth. Meadows had a two and three-point basket, as well as a free throw point, while Knowles and Parsley each had a two-pointer. SAS was held to six points, with the Lady Tigers taking the 56-29 victory.
