The DCHS Lady Tiger basketball squad added two to the win column last week, taking down both Warren and Macon Counties in Smithville.

 

DeKalb slipped in a 44-37 win against the Lady Pioneers Thursday night. The Lady Tigers grabbed an early lead in close game and held on tight.

 

With a three-point lead at the end of the third, DCHS fought WCHS off with three three-point shots, one each from Jailyn Bolding, Morgan Pedigo and Ashli Chew. Chew added four more points in the period to put DeKalb ahead 14-11 at the beginning of the second.

 

The Lady Tigers increased their lead to 24-19 in the second, outpacing Warren 10-8.

 

Bolding put in five points in the second. Chew helped with three, and Hannah Panter added two.

 

Both teams scored seven points in the third, with Pedigo hitting a three-pointer and Chew and Bolding putting in two each. DeKalb took a 31-26 lead into the final period of the game.

 

The Lady Tigers again outpaced Warren in the fourth, 13-11. Six points from Chew, four from Bolding, two from Panter and one from Pedigo ensured the win for DeKalb.

 

Chew led the Lady Tigers with 19 points in the contest. She hit a three-pointer and went 10-for-12 from the free-throw line. Bolding scored 14 points, hitting three three-pointers and going 3-for-6.

 

Morgan Pedigo put in seven points on two three-point shots and a 1-for-2 performance at the line. Panter added four points for DCHS and went 2-for-2.

 

DCHS also won against visiting Macon County Tuesday night in a 52-38 game.

 

DeKalb stormed out with a 22-point first period, allowing Macon only eight. Chew and Pedigo contributed eight points each for the Lady Tigers, while Bolding put in five.

 

While Macon outscored DeKalb 7-5 in the second, The Lady tigers still enjoyed a 27-15 advantage at the half. Pedigo hit a three pointer in the period, and Panter added two.

 

Macon again outpaced DeKalb in the third, 14-7, bringing the score to 34-29 at the beginning of the fourth.

 

Bolding and Joni Robinson placed three-pointers in the third period. Chew added a foul shot.

 

DeKalb cracked down in the final period, outscoring Macon 18-9 and leading 52-38 at the final buzzer.

 

Chew again topped the Lady Tiger offensive effort, scoring 17 points in the game. She went 7-for-10 from the foul line and hit five two-pointers.

 

Pedigo scored 15 points on four three-pointers a two-pointer, going 1-for2. Bolding put in 12 points on three three-pointers a two-point shot, going 4-for-8.

 

Joni Robinson and Macy Hedge each hit a three-pointer, Panter scored two points in the game.

 

The Lady Tigers are participating in the Christmas Classic this week. The tournament, hosted by DeKalb, began Monday and winds up today.  More on these games in next week’s Review.
