Livingston Academy handed the DCHS Tigerettes a rare loss Thursday in Smithville.
The Lady Wildcats came out on top of a 2-0 game in extra innings. When the seventh inning ended in a 0-0 stalemate, fans got an inning of softball free, but when LA finally ran two across the plate DeKalb failed to answer, and went home with a loss.
Despite putting up nine hits against losing pitcher Kayley Caplinger, the Lady Wildcats left baserunners stranded several times, failing to follow through with a score. The Livingston defense stymied the Tigerettes as well, allowing only three hits in the contest. The Lady Wildcats committed one error, while DeKalb recorded an error-free performance.
Megan Walker put two singles in for the Tigerettes, while Allison Maynard hit one single.
The Tigerettes will host Lebanon on April 27, then will travel to Baxter to face Upperman on April 29. The Bees will return the favor and visit Smithville on May 1, and post-season play will begin with the first round of the district tournament on May 5.
