Late Innings Decide Minor League Games


 

DeKalb Youth Baseball's Minor League was on the field last week with some tough fought games.

 

On Thursday, August 13, First Bank took on Taylor Construction in a game that would be close until the last inning.

 

First Bank got the scoring started in the first inning, with Reed Midgett, Anderson Fortner, and Porter Hancock each getting a run. Taylor Construction countered with three runs of their own. Keegan Taylor, Eli Colwell, and Hayden Quarles each touched home base.

 

Kollin Young added to First Bank's score in the second inning, while Taylor was kept off the board.

 

Neither team would score in the third inning, and First Bank was held scoreless in the fourth. Taylor would open things up at the bottom of the fourth, with Taylor, Colwell, Quarles, and Gavin Frazier adding to their score.

 

First Bank went into the fifth inning, but was held without scoring, and Taylor Construction took the 7-4 win.

 

Keegan Taylor was the winning pitcher, while Grayson Cantrell and Reed Midgett threw for First Bank.

 

That same evening, the Insta Cash team faced off against Davis Auto Body. The game would be tight through two innings, then run away.

 

Austin Parker, Collin Donnell, and Keegan Taylor scored for Insta Cash in the first inning, while Carson Davis, Preston Taylor, and Elliot Barnes each touched home for Davis Auto.

 

Both teams were held off the board in the second inning, and Insta Cash went three and out in the third. Davis Auto went full throttle in the third, with Davis, Taylor, Barnes, Drew Cook, and Isaiah Tramel each getting a run.

 

Insta Cash went three and out in the fourth inning, while Davis Auto kept up the pressure. Davis, Barnes, Cook, Tramel, and Jacob Lester added to their score, and Davis Auto ended with the 13-3 victory.

 

Elliott Barnes was the winning pitcher, with in relief in the third. Collin Donnell and Lance Martin threw for Insta Cash.
