Lawn Care clips Napa in Co-ed play

On Monday evening the Co-ed softball League took the field at Bill Page Ball Park. Starting off the night was the Baby Doll League, featuring Jimmy’s Lawn Care versus the Napa Auto Body team. Lawn Care slipped past Napa in a closely contested 10-9 match-up.
In the top of the first, Lawn Care could only manage to bring in  one run as Haley Carroll brought in Destinee Ritchie with her RBI triple.
In the bottom of the first, Napa also only scored one run, with a solo homerun from Skylor Young into deep centerfield.
In the top of the second, Lawn Care blew up, scoring seven runs. After walking five straight batters and forcing two runs in on walks, Carroll went up to the plate and belted out a grandslam homerun to left field.
In the bottom of the second, Napa would again only score one run, this time coming from Alexis Bly with the team’s second solo homerun of the game.
In the top of the third, Lawn Care  added two more runs to their total, starting with Hannah McBride’s solo homer to centerfield.
Isaiah Bly would be walked. Carroll flew out to centerfield and advanced the runner to third base. Ellie Cripps would have a sac-fly to bring Bly in to score.
In the bottom of the third, Napa would gain some much-needed ground on Lawn Care, scoring seven runs in the inning.
Mykenzie Wilson led the team off with a double. Desmond Nokes brought Wilson in to score when he slapped out a triple in centerfield.
Young added two runs to the team’s total with a double. Deanna Maxwell managed to bring in three runs with the bases loaded on a double to right field.
Monica Carlton brought in the seventh and final run of the inning. Though having a great inning, Napa fell just short of a comeback victory.
The next game to take place showcased the Junior Doll League, with the Cleveland Bain Framers taking on the team of Howling Mad. The Framers would walk away with the win, 8-5.
In the top of the first, Howling Mad brought in one run coming from Aspen Flarity, as she slapped out a double bringing in Nick Agee to score.
In the bottom of the first, the Framers got off to a solid start, hauling in four runs, with each coming from T.J. Bain’s grandslam to centerfield.
In the top of the second, Carrie Carroll would have the only hit for Mad with a single that rolled down the third baseline.
In the bottom of the second, the Framers added two runs to their lead. Hannah Culwell led off with a double, while Maddie Dickens brought in Culwell to score with a double of her own to centerfield. Santana Ferrell brought in the second run of the inning with a slow roller that slipped past the first baseman.
In the top of the third, Howling Mad reeled off two runs when Flarity blasted out a two-run homer to deep right field.
In the bottom of the third, the Framers offense was stopped in its tracks as they were held to a three-and-out.
In the top of the fourth, the Framers returned the favor to Howling Mad, also holding them to a three-and out.
In the bottom of the fourth, it was another three-and-out for the Framers as they continued to struggle to find some offense.
In the top of the fifth, Tesa Hall had the only hit for Mad when she knocked out a line drive to left field good for a double.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Framers got back into groove as they brought in two runs and ended their slump. Bain brought in both runs with a triple to deep centerfield.
In the top of he sixth, Mad gathered some offense and brought in two runs. Agee, with a runner on second, sent a ball to deep right field good enough for a two-run homer.
After the third out, time had expired and the Framers were given the win due to time restrictions.
In the final game of the night it was the Senior Doll League with the Daystar Carpenters taking on the Good Health Family Clinic. The Clinic just slipped past the Carpenters in an offensive shoot-out with a final score of 18-17.
In the first inning each team was held scoreless. In the top of the second, the Carpenters more than made up the difference as they exploded with 12 runs.
Jacob Bandy started it all off with a three-run triple to centerfield. Tyler Ludwick then blasted out a three-run homer to extend their lead.
Justin Bone also knocked out a three-run homer. Three other player all knocked in an RBI.
In the bottom of the second, the Clinic scored their first two runs of the game. Morgan Page had a runner on third and blasted a shot deep to right field for a two-run homer.
In the top of the third, the Carpenters extended their lead with four runs. B. Bone brought in two runs with a double to right field. Bandy and J. Bone each brought in one run with singles.
In the bottom of the third, the Clinic gained on the Carpenters with four runs scored. Kaite Hall led the charge with a three-run homer to deep right field. Taylor Baumgard slapped out a double that brought in Ludwig to score.
In the top of the fourth, the Carpenters were shut out and couldn’t manage any offense for the inning.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Clinic kept the runs coming as they hauled in six runs to cut the lead down to three. Page knocked out a double that brought in two runs to score.
Michael Caplinger blasted a ball deep to center field that brought in three runs. On the throw to home, the ball zipped past the catcher and Caplinger scored on the error.
In the top of the fifth, the Carpenters would only score one run with a solo homerun from Trey Finley.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Clinic scored another three runs to come within striking distance of their opponents. Morgan Page scored all the runs in the inning with a three-run homer to centerfield.
In the top of the sixth, the Carpenters were held to a three-and-out. In the bottom of the sixth, the Clinic pulled out all the stops, which included a walk-off double from Olivia Barber that gave the Clinic the comeback victory.
