The DeKalb County Tigers Doubles Tennis Team’s Taylor Leach and Dylan Young made it to the regional tennis tournament after winning against top-ranked Livingston in Baxter last week.
DCHS Tennis Coach Joe Pat Cope said the win was a big achievement with only four doubles teams left in the region and 16 teams left in the state.  Cope said that Leach and Young will play Signal Mountain in the regions at the Champions Club in Chattanooga.
When asked how they felt about their chances Leach told the Smithville Review, "I’m excited."
Young agreed saying, "We’ve got to go out there with confidence."
Coach Cope said that this is Leach’s senior year and the first time he’s made it to the regions.  "That’s a big honor," he explained.  "It’s not like other sports where only two teams from the district go.  It’s a big district. It’s not just the AA schools, it’s the single A schools too.  Friendship Christian and a bunch of the private schools were in there and they were fortunate enough to knock them off this year."
