Red Cross Life Guard Certification classes are coming to the Smithville Swimming Pool.
Courses will be held Thursday, May 5 - Sunday, May. Participants must attend every class, with no exceptions. Thursday and Friday classes begin at 3:30 p.m. and end at 9:00 p.m.
Saturday class begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 9 p.m. Sunday class begins at 1 p.m. and ends when finished.
The cost is $175 per person. The fee must be paid in full by Friday, April 22. Attendees must be age 14 by May 5. The fee is not refundable after the first class, and only partial money is returned if you cannot pass the class. Participants should be prepared to train in very cold water.
The Red Cross Life Guard Certification is a two-year certification.
If seeking employment as a lifeguard, before enrolling in any class participants should contact the Smithville Golf Course and Swimming Pool at 615-597-6648.
The golf course and pool are also taking applications for help in concession stand and mowing during the summer of 2016. Those seeking a mowing job must be able to operate commercial equipment, zero turn mowers and weed eaters, and work early hours. Applicants for the concession stand must be able to count back money, do janitorial duties, snack stand food prep, pro-shop duties, have flexible hours, and having golf knowledge is a plus.
Applicants must be older than 16 years, and weekend shifts are a must. Bring resumes in person to the pro shop at the golf course on Golf Club Drive.
