Little League sees several shut-outs

Shut-outs seemed to be the theme of the game last week with several Little League teams being denied runs. 
On June 3, DeKalb Depot took the early lead in a game against Rice’s Tigers. Elijah Hall and Tanner Poss scored in the first inning for DeKalb, while Poss and Logan Cornelius came home in the fifth. 
Alex Snipes tossed 52 pitches for the Tigers, before Daniel Puckett came in and pitched 35.
Cornelius threw 36 pitches for DeKalb, while Isaac Hall came in and threw 47.  They would keep the Tigers off the board with a final score of DeKalb Depot 4, Rice’s Tigers 0.
That same day Liberty Machine played Webb’s Pharmacy in another shut-out game. 
Logan Johnson scored in the third inning for Webb’s, with Luke Bryant taking home in the fourth.  Bryant would score again in the fifth, along with Luke Oliver, Colter Norris, Grayson Redmon, Brady Driver, and Peyton Taylor. 
Brady Driver tossed 38 pitches for Webb’s, before being relieved by Colter Norris who threw 22. John Maynard threw 72 pitches for Liberty, before Dalton Bain came in and threw16. Joey Burgess ended the game, throwing 34.
Webb’s would keep Liberty from touching home plate, coming away with the win, 8-0. 
On June 6, yet another shut-out game was played, this time between Liberty Machine and Rice’s Tigers. 
Joey Burgess, John Maynard, and Derek Young scored in the first inning for Liberty, with Will Stephens scoring in the second.  Burgess would score again in the fourth, and Justin Allen, Conner Rice, and Dalton Bain would come in with runs in the fifth. 
Chantz Bowling pitched the whole game, throwing 57 pitches.
For the Tigers, Jayden Young threw 82, before Daniel Puckett came in and pitched 24.  Josh Carlton finished the game, throwing four.
Liberty took the victory, 8-0. 
That same evening DeKalb Depot faced Webb’s Pharmacy in a game that stayed close until the fourth inning. 
Logan Cornelius and Issac Hall started things off for DeKalb, coming in with runs in the first inning.  Elijah Hall and Dylan Cripps would score in the third inning, with Tanner Poss taking home in the fifth. 
For Webb’s, Luke Oliver took the first score, coming home in the first inning.  Luke Bryant scored in the second inning, with Oliver and Colter Norris coming in during the third.  The fourth inning sealed the win with Oliver, Norris, Grayson Redmon, Brady Driver, Brayden Howard, and Ethan Jenkins all scoring a run. 
Isaac Hall threw 79 pitches for DeKalb, before Logan Cornelius came in, throwing 25.
Grayson Redmon pitched the entire game for Webb’s, throwing 85 pitches. 
Webb’s sealed the win, 10-5.
