Major League Winding Down Season

By Chris Tramel

The DeKalb Youth Baseball's Major League was on the field last week with a couple of late season games.

On Tuesday, August 18, First Bank took on the Ranger Brakes Rangers. It would turn out to be a good night for First Bank.

Jon Hendrix and Luke Johnson got First Bank on the board first, each with a run in the first inning. The Rangers were held three and out.

Ben Driver and Robbie Knox continued for First Bank in the second inning, each crossing home plate. Evan Prichard got the Rangers on the board at the bottom of the second, but First Bank was up, 4-1.

First Bank continued to pile up the runs in the third inning, with Hendrix, Johnson, Cooper Goodwin, and Driver each getting home. Again, the Rangers were held three and out. First Bank was up, 8-1.

Logan Duke, Hendrix, and Bryson Arnold scored for First Bank in the fourth, while Brad Hale and Austin Vickers each had a run for the Rangers. It was too little, too late, and First Bank took the 11-3 victory.

Jon Hendrix was the winning pitcher, while Evan Prichard threw for the Rangers. Austin Vickers came in at the fourth.

Later that same evening, Rice's Tigers took on the Rangers. The outcome would be no better for the Rangers.

Silas Kirksey, Tucker Webb, and Luke Johnson got things going for the Tigers in the first inning, each with a run. The Rangers went three and out.

The Tigers went three and out in the second, while the Rangers' Evan Prichard got his team on the scoreboard.

Luke Johnson countered for the Tigers in the third inning, while the Rangers were held off the board.

Logan Duke, Kirksey, Webb, and Johnson would each score a run for the Tigers in the fourth, while the Rangers were again held off the scoreboard. The game would go into the sixth inning, but that is where the scoring would end. The Tigers took the 8-1 win.

Aiden Taylor was the winning pitcher, with Silas Kirksey in relief in the fifth. Brad Hale pitched for the Rangers, with Cooper Odom in relief in the sixth.
