The DeKalb Little league was in action last week with some games being played as make-up games. The league’s schedule had been disrupted by bad weather earlier in the season. Some of the resulting match-ups saw replacement players from other teams.
On June 24, DeKalb Depot met Rice’s Tigers in a game that got out of hand early for the Tigers.
DeKalb Depot’s Dusty Drennan and Elijah Hall started off the scoring for the game, each coming in with a run in the first inning. Drennan and Hall would repeat in the second inning, joining Tanner Poss, Isaac Hall, and Luke Oliver.
The Tigers would finally get on the board as they came to bat in the second, with Garrett Driver, Jacob Williams, and Grayson Redmon each touching home base, but Drennan, Oliver, Elijah Hall, and Dylan Cripps would each get a score for DeKalb in the third. Kobie Snipes and Justin Washer came in with runs for the Tigers in the third, but it was not enough. DeKalb Depot got the win, 11-5.
Tanner Poss pitched the entire game for DeKalb Depot, throwing 74. For the Tigers, Daniel Puckett was the starting pitcher, throwing 22. Jadyn Young then came in and threw 61 before Alex Snipes ended the game, throwing nine.
That same evening Webb’s Pharmacy took on Liberty Machine. The game was all Webb’s through the first three innings before Liberty Machine finally got on the board.
For Webb’s Luke Oliver touched home in the first inning, and again in the second along with Colter Norris, Grayson Redmon, and Jadyn Young. Oliver, Redmon, and Young would touch home again in the third, along with Logan Johnson and Noah Roberts.
Liberty’s John Maynard, Derek Young, and Chantz Bowling scored in the fourth inning, but to no avail. Webb’s took the win, 10-3.
Colter Norris threw 57 pitches for Webb’s while Luke Bryant ended the game, throwing 16. For Liberty Bowling threw 55, and Young ended the game, throwing 44.
On June 27, Liberty Machine played a close low-scoring game with Rice’s Tigers.
For Liberty, Joey Burgess and John Maynard each came in with runs in the first inning, with the team keeping the lead until the fourth when the Tigers’ Jadyn Young and Alex Snipes would tie the score.
Blake Button would put Liberty in the lead again with a run in the fifth, but Young and Lance Davis would give the Tigers the win in the sixth, 4-3.
Maynard threw the league limit of 85 for Liberty, before being relieved by Conner Rice, who threw nine. Alex Snipes threw 85 for the Tigers before having to come out for Daniel Puckett, who threw 19.
That same day Webb’s Pharmacy faced DeKalb Depot in another dominating performance by Webb’s.
Luke Oliver got the first run of the game for Webb’s, coming in the first inning. Elijah Hall would match Webb’s score as DeKalb came to bat in the first, but from then on it was all Webb’s.
Colter Norris and Grayson Redmon would each get a run in the third inning, and both would score again in the fourth along with Logan Johnson, Noah Roberts, and Jadyn Young. Webb’s got the win, 8-1.
Grayson Redmon pitched the entire game for Webb’s, throwing 85. DeKalb’s Isaac Hall threw 85, while Logan Cornelius ended the game, throwing 15.
