The DeKalb County High School baseball chili supper will be held March 4 at the DeKalb County Community Complex featuring speaker, Mike Corn, head coach of Columbia State Community College. Tickets are $8 per person or $25 per family. They can be bought at the door or from any high school baseball player. Supper begins at 6 p.m.
Coach Corn is serving as only the fourth head baseball coach in Columbia State’ s rich baseball history. During the 2014 season Coach Corn guided his team to a conference championship, region championship, and a trip to the NJCAA World Series. The latest trip to the World Series marked only the 6th time in program history.
Coach Corn went to Columbia State Community College from UT-Knoxville where he served as director of baseball operations during the 2008/2009 season. Prior to his position with UT-Knoxville, Corn had spent the previous nine seasons as an assistant coach at Tusculum College in Greeneville.
The Erwin, Tenn., native played collegiately at Columbia State and Coker College where he also received a bachelor’s degree in Fitness Programming.
