Motorsports marked a busy week at the T.C. McMillen Arena at the DeKalb County Fair. Tuesday night saw Go-Kart racing, with nine divisions of fun for drivers of all ages.
Three-Year-old Austin O’Conner took first in the Three-and-Under class, while Logan O’Conner topped the 10-12 year olds. Travis Owenwon both the 21-and-up division, as well as the Unlimited class.
Logan O’Conner took home another trophy in WKA sanctioned competition, this time for the stock class.
Brent Vickers was the winner in both the Stock and Modified Animal groups. Charles "Skip" Sherman earned first in the Clone division, and Mark Barwley outpaced the competition for the win in the Outlaw class.
On Wednesday motorcycles and ATVs hit the flat track on the hill.
Waylon Dial came out on top in the Electric Car Stock class. In ATV 50cc Stock (3-5 years) Lance Martin edged by Chance Dial in second and Kaydence Cobb in third for the win. L.J. Davis took first in ATV 50cc Stock for 6-8 year olds, while Chance Dial claimed second and Kaydence Cobb earned third.
In the 50cc Auto motorcycle class, Carter Scott won the race, and Maddie Willard was second. The 6-8 year old 50cc Auto division saw Bryson Trapp take first, and J.T. Summers come in second. The field for the 60cc motorcycle class for 7-11 year olds was bested by Shawn Allen, with Aiden Bennett taking second and Emma Johnson third.
Shawn Allen also won the 80cc Junior class for 6-11 year olds. Aiden Bennett was second and Gage Trapp took third place. Dakota Faulk claimed first in the 80cc class for 12-15 year olds.
Josh Elrod earned the top spot in ATV 80-90cc (6-15 years). Olivia Kelly took second, and Layne Cobb Was third. ATV 80-90cc Mod for 8-15 year olds saw Aiden Bennett finish first, with Collin Norrod in second and Olivia Kelley in third. Collin Norrod won the ATV 71-125cc division, while Aiden Bennett took second and Ashton Allen was third.
Hunter Faulk finished first in the 125 cc motorcycle class. Nathan Card won the 250cc division, and Josh Simmons came in second and Bradley Faulk finished in third.
Aiden Bennett won the 126-200cc Blaster ATV class, with Collin Norrod in second. The 250-400cc 4-stroke class was tamed by Morgan Young, Johnathan Denton taking second and Kaleb Rymer third.
Jesse Davis won the Open 4-stroke class, with Brian Alley in second and Eric Henry in third. Zack Davis finished first and Joey Heflin second in the ATV 210-250 2-stroke division. The ATV open class was won by Jesse Davis, with Brian Alley second and Justin Davis third.
Nathan Card was on top in the Motorcycle Money Race, with Josh Summers in second. Robert Lobello won the ATV Money Race, and Jesse Davis was second.
Pulling trucks and tractors came to the arena Saturday night, and some impressive machines hooked up to the sled and headed for the gate.
Pat Pryor of Byrdstown in the Power Ranger won the 4300 Mini Truck class with a pull of 296.02 feet at 21.5 mph. Gary West of Jamestown in the Cumberland Express was second with 289.04 feet at 20.2 mph, and Wayne Poore from Pall Mall, driving Poore Excuse, took third with a 281.04-foot pull at 18.9 mph.
The 5500 Super Stock Truck class was bested by Lester Cole, III of Crossville in Relentless, with a 311.08-foot pull at 24.4 mph. Leland Baird of Milton went 304.08 feet in Triple X, clocking 23.2 mph for second place. Chelsie Cole of Crossville Terminator was third with a 269.09-foot pull at 18 mph.
Alexandria’s Jeff Reynolds took the top spot in the 5500 Economy Hotrod Tractor division. His Ragin' Bull pulled the sled 303.04 feet at 22.9 mph. Cameron Hawkins from Greenback, driving Ole Yeller, was second with 295.00 feet at 21.7 mph
David Holbrook of Murfreesboro won the 6200 LLSS Tractor class. Red Rage traveled 307.03 feet at 24.6 mph.
Bruce Wilson’s White Lightning from Dade City, Fla took first in Open Diesel Truck with a pull of 288.07 feet at 26.3 mph, and eight-year-old Slaton Constable of Woodbury took second in the Green Killer at 237.06 feet and 17.9 mph.
