The DeKalb Major League was in action last week, with some close nail-biting games.
On June 9, Curtis Supply faced off with Webbs in a game that would be decided by one point.
For Curtis, Jacon Johnson, Malachi Hall, Elija Hall, Dillon Knowles, Grant Curtis, and Caven Ponder each had a run in the first inning, while Malachi Hall scored again in the second.
Logan Johnson started off the scoring for Webbs in the second inning, with Levi Cantrell, Braxton Hutchins, and Isaac Cross each touched home in the third. Jordan Crook, Hutchins, Johnson, and Preston Ray each had a run in the fourth, inching Webbs by for the 8-7 victory.
That same day, Liberty Machine battled Rice’s Tigers in another one-point game.
Joey Burgess and Creston Bain started off the scoring for Liberty in the first inning, while Bain and Braxton Hutchins came home in the second. Conner Rice, Ben Snipes, Jacob Williams, and Hutchins each added to the score in the third.
For Rice’s Tigers, Nixon Murphy, Jadyn Young, Kobie Snipes, and Garrett Driver each had a run in the first inning. Young, Snipes, and Driver scored again in the third, but they were one point short. Liberty Machine got the win, 8-7.
On June 12, Rice’s Tigers were back on the field, this time taking on Webbs in a low-scoring match.
Nixon Murphy, Jadyn Young, Kobie Snipes, and Garrett Driver each had a run for Rice’s in the first inning.
Braxton Hutchins scored for Webbs in the third inning, and Isaac Cross added to the tally in the fourth. Rice’s held on for the win, 4-2.
Curtis Supply took on Liberty Machine that same evening, in yet another squeaker.
Jacob Johnson, Aiden Curtis, Malachi Hall, and Elija Hall each had a run in the first inning for Curtis Supply, with Johnson and Elija Hall scoring again in the second. Caven Ponder had a run in the third.
For Liberty, Ben Snipes and Cody Antoniak each had a run in the first inning, with Bryston Smith and Jacob Williams coming home in the second. Smith and Braydon Antoniak each had a run in the fourth. Curtis held on for the win, 7-6.
On June 13, Curtis Supply played a low-scoring game against Rice’s Tigers.
Elija Hall started off the scoring for Curtis with a run in the second inning. Aiden Curtis, Malachi Hall, and Holden Hendrix came in with runs in the third.
For Rice’s, Nixon Murphy scored in the first inning, and Garrett Driver in the fourth. Curtis took the 4-2 victory.
Webbs battled Liberty Machine that day, with Liberty showing some muscle.
Jordan Crook had a run for Webbs in the first inning, while Braxton Hutchins scored in the third.
Joey Burgess, Creston Bain, and Cody Antoniak each had a run for Liberty in the first inning, while Burgess, Bain, Antoniak, Bryston Smith, and Josef Osment scored in the second. Antoniak added an insurance run in the third inning, giving Liberty the 9-2 win.
On June 14, Liberty Machine was back in action, this time against Rice’s Tigers.
For Liberty, Ben Snipes, Cody Antoniak, and Joey Burgess each had a run in the first inning, and joined Conner Rice, Jacob Williams, Josef Osment, and Jordan Crook for runs in the fourth.
Jordan Young, Kobie Snipes, and Garrett Driver each scored in the first inning for Rice’s, while Snipes, Driver, Justin Washer, and Memphis Shumke scored in the fifth. Liberty held on for the 10-7 win.
Curtis Supply faced Webbs in a low-scoring battle.
For Curtis, Jacob Johnson had a run in the first inning, while Caven Ponder scored in the second. Elija Hall and Dillon Knowles each touched home plate in the third.
Braxton Hutchins had a run for Webbs in the first inning, and joined Joseph Rader for runs in the third. Curtis took the victory, 4-3.
