Pee Wee Tigers take game

Pee Wee pro Tiger Jaxon Sherrell breaks out for some big yards Saturday in the teams win over the visiting Bulldogs.

The Fentress Bulldogs had a case of the fumbles Saturday night, and the Pee Wee youth football Tigers said “Thank you very much” as they recovered several for the 12-0 win Saturday.
“It was an ugly win, but we’ll take it,” said Coach Toby Nokes. “I don’t feel bad about it; we should have won by about five touchdowns.”
Winning the toss, the Bulldogs chose to receive but DeKalb set the tone early defensively with a great open-field tackle to save a first down. A Fentress fumble on second down, a sack on third and the backfield was overrun with Tiger tacklers turned the ball over on downs.
The Tigers took matters into their own hands on first possession as Preston Taylor stomped for four yards and Reed Midgett ran for a first down. A reverse by Jaxon Sherrell and short run by Preston Taylor garnered another first down, followed by a breakout 15-yard run for a touchdown by Carson Davis for the 6-0 lead. The PAT attempt was unsuccessful.
Davis was instrumental on both sides of the field, stopping a Bulldog run on third down, creating a fumble which led to a punt by Fentress on fourth down.
Too many men on the field led to more Bulldog woes as the Tigers took over and Reed Midgett scampered across midfield. A six-yard gain by Collin Donnell led to another first down by Davis. The Tigers coughed it up however, as they threatened in the red zone again. This led to the first down of the night for the Bulldogs but they subsequently gave the ball back with a fumble of their own.
Some backfield penetration helped the Tigers regain the ball and a couple more runs by Taylor and Davis led to a 36-yard TD run by #25. PAT attempt was unsuccessful.
The Tigers looked like they might score one more as Davis visited the end zone yet again, but it was called back as time ran out.
The TIgers go on the road to White County next Saturday.
