The DeKalb Junior Pro Football Peewee Tigers are going to the league championship. The Tigers beat the Fentress Bulldogs, 12-8 last week to advance to the game. The Bulldogs handed the Tigers thier first defeat earlier in the season.
The Tigers traveled to Carthage on Sept. 28 and lost the regular season championship against the Smith County Owls, 6-0, but advanced in the playoffs.
The Tigers had 118 yards in the game with 55 yards on the ground by Ryan Thompson, and touchdown runs by Briz Trapp and Marquez Chalfant.  The Tigers’ defense forced two turnovers with the DeKalb offense taking quick advantage.
Marquez Chalfant had 33 yards in the game, Mason Winter ran for 20 yards, Conner Close had11 yards, and Konner Young came away with four yards.
The Peewee Tigers go up against the Smith County Owls next Saturday in the championship match-up. The game begins at 3:30 p.m. at the DCHS football field.
Both the Junior and Senior Tigers lost their games last week and will play consolation games on Saturday.
