ISAAC KNOWLES

In the world of baseball, the game is all about stats. The scouts, coaches, and of course the fans, want to know the answers. Who has the best batting average, home runs, steals, RBI's, and wins?
High numbers are what people want to see. So, when a player has an outrageous stat beside his/her number, everyone soon knows his or her name.
Ted Williams, the last player to have a batting average over .400, had an amazing accomplishment. It is an incredible feat for anyone to hit four out of every ten times at bat.
With that being said, let me introduce DeKalb County's very own, Isaac Knowles, who this year is playing in the Jr. Coach Pitch League. Playing for his team, Robert's Ice Crushers, Knowles led his team to an undefeated season, placing first in both the regular season and tournament.
When asked who his favorite team was, Isaac answered, “The Atlanta Braves.” Isaac also mentioned that his favorite player is Chipper Jones.
Things have to line up perfectly for an achievement like this to happen. Knowles had 43 hits, crossing the plate 36 times, so the batters behind him were also producing hits. Knowles finished the season with 12 home runs.
Playing as a 6 year -old, Isaac, who is now 7, has played baseball for five seasons. His first two years were in tee ball.
In his first season of coach pitch, he batted .600. During his second season, his batting average went up .200 points to .800. Now, in Isaac's third year of coach pitch, his batting average increased another .200 points for a whopping 1.000.
Knowles, who also led the league in singles, stands at the top of the league standings. Every at-bat this season, was recorded as a hit. At any level, a perfect batting average is an amazing feat, worthy of celebration.
Isaac Knowles, we at the Smithville Review, give you a salute that even the great Ted Williams and Chipper Jones would be proud of.
