The DeKalb Middle School Saints Soccer Team was at home, then on the road last week, getting some big wins against conference opponents.
On April 8, the Saints were on their home turf as they took on Fentress County. The game started off quick for the Saints, with the team getting a goal in the first two minutes of play.
The team would not let up, scoring four more within the first 10 minutes of the game. DMS would finish out the first half scoring one more, making the score at halftime 6-0.
The second half was no different, with the Saints scoring six more and sealing the win,12-0.
DeKalb took a total of 33 shots, with Cristobal Flores getting four goals, Omar Aldino two, and David Herriott, Daniel Munoz, Luke Bryant, Alec Reynolds, Dakota White, and Luis Hernandez each with one goal.
Goalkeepers Omar Aldino, Wesley Carpenter, and Luis Hernandez had a combined six saves on the night.
On April 10, the Saints were on the road, taking on Cumberland County.
The first half of the game started off slow, with no scores for the first 15 minutes of play. Then, Cristobal Flores scored the first goal on a penalty kick, giving DMS a 1-0 lead.
Before the half would close Alec Reynolds would add another goal to the score, then Luis Hernandez scored two more. The half ended with DeKalb leading, 4-0.
The Saints entered the second half just as they left the first. Cristobal Flores scored two more goals, while Alec Reynolds and Wesley Carpenter each came away with one of their own. Cumberland County would finally get on the board, but DMS took the victory, 8-1.
DMS had 37 shots on the day, while goalkeeper Omar Aldino had two saves in the game.
DMS would lose the Junior Varsity game, 2-1.
