The DeKalb Middle School Saints and lady Saints were on the court last week, this time facing teams from Prescott Middle School.
On Dec. 16, the Lady Saints took to the court and scored four points in the first period, with Joni Robinson coming away with two two-point shots. Prescott had 13 points and a big early lead.
DeKalb had five points in the second period, with Robinson getting a three-pointer and Macy Hedge taking a two-point shot. Prescott got seven points in the period, taking a 20-9 lead at the half.
Madison Parsley had a three-pointer and a two-point shot in the third period. That, as well as a two-pointer by Abby Evans, gave the Lady Saints seven points. Prescott continued their dominance on the court however, getting 10 points and a 30-16 lead.
The Lady Saints came away with 10 points in the fourth, with a two and three-pointer by Parsley, a three-pointer by Robinson, and a two-point shot by Hedge. Prescott had only six points, but that was more than enough for the 36-26 win.
Julia Curtis went zero for two on free throws in the game.
Things weren’t much better for the boys during their game. The Saints were held scoreless in the first period, falling way behind early with Prescott coming away with 12 points.
The Saints finally got into the game in the second period, getting 10 points. Austin Johnson had a two and three-pointer, with Tyler Cantrell and Tanner Poss each getting a two-point shot. Prescott advanced their lead going into the half, scoring 13 points and taking a 25-10 lead.
Trey Jones had two-two-pointers in the third period, accounting for four of the Saints’ six points in the quarter. Again, Prescott outscored DeKalb, coming away with eight points and a 33-16 lead.
The Saints only had five points in the fourth period, four of which came from a pair of two-pointers by Jones. Prescott sealed their victory with six points, taking a 39-21 win.
Jones went one for six on free throws, while Bradley Miller and Poss were each one for two. Johnson went one for four.
