The Saints finished the 2022 regular season with a bang last Tuesday night when the White, Blue and Red traveled to Cookeville to take on the Prescott Bulldogs. The Saints’ offense regained its potent ways, scoring four touchdowns and converting two, two point conversions in the game. DeKalb’s defense was equally impressive, grounding the Bulldog attack all night and giving up only one touchdown to win the contest 28-6.
The Saints opened the game with an impressive 8 play, 54 yard drive, but stalled out on the Bulldog 13 yard line. Prescott would give the ball back to the Saints on the Bulldog 17 yard line on their first possession and it would take only one play for Saints’ running back Cecil Ketchum to find the end zone to give DeKalb a 6-0 lead with 6:22 left in the half.
Neither team could muster any further points in the first half but after Prescott fumbled on its first possession of the third quarter, JT Summers would run in from 8 yards out to put the Saints on the board again. This time Jesse Foutch would convert on the two point conversion attempt and with 4:22 left in the third quarter, the Saints led 14-0.
Prescott would put its only sustained drive of the night together on its next possession, putting together a seven play, 53 yard drive to put the Bulldogs on the board, 14-6.
Jesse Foutch and the Saints would answer though, moving the ball 50 yards in four plays and running into the end zone from 13 yards out to begin the fourth quarter. Foutch’s two point conversion attempt was again good and with 7:16 left in the game, DeKalb led 22-6.
DeKalb would find the end zone once more late in the quarter when Cecil Ketchum would run in from 6 yards out to put the final points on the board and give the Saints their third win of the season, 28-6.
DeKalb will play a final, consolation, game against Algood, in Algood, September 27th to end the season.
