After a year delay, the DeKalb Middle School Saints soccer team finally got to host a home game on their new field. The 2020 season was cancelled after only three games, all of them on the road. The team was never able to play on the new soccer field, located on 600 Allens Ferry Road next to the Little League fields.

On Thursday, March 11, the Saints made history, not only playing on the field officially for the first time, but also with a big victory in the season home opener.

Facing off against conference opponent, Upperman Middle School, the Saints were ready to go from the first whistle. At halftime the score was 5-0 in favor of the home team, with Juan Ortega already with a hat trick at the half.

DMS put two more in the back of the net in the second half as the Saints cruised to their first conference win of the season, 7-0.

Juan Ortega had four goals in the game, while Aidan Malone, Erick Hernandez, and Hector Cervantes each had one. The Saints are currently 3-0 with two weeks of the season in the books.
