Saints season comes to an end

The DeKalb Middle School Saints basketball team ended their season last week with one final game. The game would not have the outcome they had hoped for.

 

On Jan. 22, the Saints were at home, facing Rickman in a game that had originally been scheduled for Jan. 15. The makeup game would mark the end of the Saints’ 2014-15 season.

 

DMS scored three points in the first period, with a three-point basket by Colter Norris. Rickman took a narrow lead with four points on the board.

 

The Saints scored four points in the second period, with two-pointers by Tanner Poss and Nathan Atkins. Rickman came away with nine points, taking a 13-7 halftime lead.

 

DeKalb came away with six points in the third period, with Poss, Atkins, and Michael Elswick each getting a two-point basket. Rickman continued to pull away with 12 more points, and a 25-13 lead.

 

The Saints scored 10 point in the fourth, with Noah Gill getting a three-point shot and a couple of free throw shots, while Poss got a two-pointer and a free throw. Andrew Fuson also scored a two-pointer. Rickman added six complimentary points, and took the win, 31-23.

 

Gill was two for four on free throws, while Poss was one for four.
