The DMS Saints basketball team split a pair of road games last week, taking a victory as they traveled to Watertown before falling on the road in Sparta.

On Tuesday, November 14, the boys traveled to Watertown for the first of two road trips of the week. The Saints would start the game with 24 points in the first period, with Elliott Barnes sinking a pair of two-point baskets and a three-pointer, while Anthony Moore hit a two and three-point shot of his own. J.T. Summers had a pair of two-point baskets, while Cooper Odom, Hartley Hannah, Kingston Mills, and Carter Melson each had a two-point shot. Watertown was held to five points.

The Saints kept rolling in the second, scoring 17 more points. Barnes sank a trio of two-pointers, while Summers, Moore, Hannah, and Mills each had one. Preston Taylor added a free throw point. Watertown score seven, giving DMS a 41-12 halftime lead.

DMS scored 12 more in the third period, with Odom and Melson each sinking a three-pointer, while Barnes added a two-point shot and a pair of free-throw points. Summers also had a two-point basket. Watertown was held to seven, giving the Saints the 53-19 lead.

Hayden Quarles hit a three-pointer for the Saints in the fourth, while Johnny Colwell, Melson, and Keegan Taylor each had a two-point shot. Mills added a free-throw point. Watertown managed eight points, giving DMS the 63-27 victory.

It would be a much closer game the following Thursday as the Saints traveled to Sparta to take on White County.

The Saints came away with seven points in the first period, with Summers hitting a couple of two-point shots, while Barnes had one. Hannah had a free throw point. White County kept pace with six points.

DMS put 11 points on the board in the second period, with Barnes, Moore, and Hannah each hitting a three-pointer, while Summers had a two-point basket. White County was held to six, giving the Saints the 18-12 lead at the half.

Summers was the only Saint to put a point on the board for the Saints in the third period, off of a single free throw. White would put nine on the board, and take the 21-19 lead.

The Saints would end the game with eight points in the fourth, with Barnes hitting a two and three-point shot and a pair of free throws, while Summers had a free-throw point. White would add 10 to the board and claim the 31-27 win.
