The DeKalb Middle School Saints Basketball team squeaked by Watertown in a 43-42 game on Dec. 12.
The Saints led a 15-3 first period, and led the game 17-12 at the half. In a spectacular second-half battle, Watertown clawed to a 25-24 advantage at the beginning of the fourth, but were outpaced 19-17 by the Saints in the final period.
Luke Jenkins led the Saints with 18 points, while Matt Sweeney scored 10. Isaac Knowles placed six points for DMS, Jacob Johnson scored five, and J.J. Pack and Aiden Curtis added two points each.
The Saints took a 38-6 beating from Warren County on Dec. 15.
DeKalb was outscored 21-1 in the first period, and 7-3 in the second, sending the Saints into the locker room at the half with a 28-3 deficit. Warren led a 4-3 third period, and scored six unanswered points in the fourth to ensure the win.
J.J. Pack and Silas Cross put three points each in for the Saints.
The Saints visited White County on Dec. 19, and will be on break until Jan. 5, when they will host VanBuren County. Prescott Middle in Cookeville will then travel to Smithville to face DMS on Jan. 9.
