The DeKalb Middle School Saints marched into the conference playoffs for the fifth straight season, capping their regular season on eighth grade night Friday with a 1-0 win over Upperman.

The lone goal of the evening against the undefeated Bees was put in the back of the Upperman net by Cameron Miller in the first half of the contest. Their win came over a much bigger Upperman squad, their size countered by the quickness and defensive tenacity of the Saints.

The Saints went 5-4 in the Upper Cumberland Middle School Soccer Conference with their young squad, all but four of which were underclassmen.  Moving on from the squad are Kevin Aguirre, Diego Coronado, Jonathan Hernandez and Alex Soto Torres. They were all honored at half-time on eighth-grade night.

The Saints have made the tournament all five years of their existence as a team. The top six teams in each conference are invited to complete for the conference crown.

The Saints entered the tournament this week, seeded fifth out of six teams in the district. They were set to rematch Upperman at their pitch in a win or go home battle.
