The Saints basketball team were back on the hardwood last week, traveling to Prescott early in the week before coming back home for two games.

On Monday, November 6, the boys traveled to Prescott where they would come away with a big win. DMS scored 10 points in the first period, with Anthony Moore hitting on a two and three-point basket. Elliott Barnes sank a three-pointer, while Hartley Hannah had a two-pointer. Prescott was held to five points.

The Saints put 14 on the board in the second period, with J.T. Summers and Barnes each getting three two-point baskets, while Carter Melson had one. Prescott was again held to five, giving DeKalb Middle the 24-10 lead at halftime.

Barnes put up a two and three-point shot for the Saints in the third, along with four free-throw points. Summers, Hannah, and Kinston Mills each had a two-point basket. Prescott added 10 points to the board, with DMS up 39-20.

DMS added six more points to the board in the fourth, with Summers, Barnes and Hannah each coming away with a two-point basket. Prescott managed 10 points, but the Saints claimed the 45-30 victory.

The following day the boys were back on their home court, this time facing Monterey. It would be a closer game.

The Saints scored 13 points in the first period, with Barnes sinking a two-pointer and a pair of three-pointers. Anthony Moore hit a two-point shot and a free throw, while Cooper Odom added a two-point basket. Monterey stayed close with 11 points.

DMS added 15 to the board in the second period. Barnes sank a two and three-point basket, while Odom had a two-pointer and a free throw. Summers, Moore, Hayden Quarles, and Preston Taylor each had a two-pointer. Monterey scored another 11, but DMS held the 28-22 halftime lead.

The Saints put another 13 points on the board in the third period. Barnes had a pair of two-point shots and a three-pointer, while Summers added a two-point basket and a free throw. Odom had a two-pointer, while Moore added a free-throw point. Monterey came away with 18 points, narrowing the game 41-40.

It came down to the fourth period. Barnes put 11 points on the board with a pair of three-point shots, a couple of two-pointers, and a free throw. Summer added a two-pointer, while Hannah had a free-throw point. Monterey was held to nine points giving the Saints the 56-49 victory.

On Thursday, the Saints faced a tough opponent as they hosted Cannon County.

Summers, Barnes and Taylor each scored a two-pointer for the Saints in the first period, while Odom added a free throw. Cannon put 16 on the board.

The Saints scored six in the second period, with Summers sinking a pair of two-point baskets and Moore hitting one. Cannon added 13 points, taking a 29-13 halftime lead.

Odom had a pair of two-pointers for the Saints in the third, while Barnes and Hannah each had a two-pointer and a free throw. Summers and Moore each had a two-point basket. Cannon added 15, going up 44-27.

The Saints ended the game with nine more points. Summers had a pair of two-point shots, Barnes a three-pointer, and Hannah one two-point basket. Cannon would go on to take the 58-36 win.
