The Tigers and Lady Tigers wound up the regular season with losses to the Warren County Pioneers and Lady Pioneers Friday night.
The Lady Tigers lost a 41-34 game in Warren County. The Lady Pioneers came out of a first-period defensive battle with a 4-1 advantage, but increased their lead to 21-10 at the half. DeKalb outscored Warren by one point in the third to bring the score to 29-19, and DeKalb pulled within seven before the final buzzer, but couldn’t pull it out.
Macy Hedge led the Lady Tigers with 12 points, while Emme Colwell scored nine. Lydia Brown put six on the board, Hannah Panter put four in, and Madison Parsley scored three.
The Tigers took a 62-44 beating from the Pioneers.
Warren County edged by for the lead in a 12-11 first period, but jumped out to a 28-21 lead by halftime. Held on to a 43-38 advantage at the end of the third, but a fourth period rally ended with an 18-point Warren win.
Tanner Poss led the Tiger offense with 16 points. Trey Jones and Marshal Evins scored seven each, and Chandler Vincent contributed six. Gentry Harpole scored four points, Austin Johnson put three in, and Isaac Walker with added one.
The DCHS teams will begin District 8-AA tournament action Monday night at Hooper Eblen Center on the Tennessee Tech campus in Cookeville.
The Lady Tigers, seeded sixth in the district, will face the seventh seed York Institute Lady Dragons at 6 p.m. The winner of that contest will continue to meet third seed Smith County on Wednesday, at 6 p.m. Second seed Macon County will play the winner of that game on Friday at 4 p.m.
The Tigers, seeded seventh, face sixth seed Smith County Monday at 7:30 p.m. The winner plays third seed Livingston Academy Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. The winner of that game will meet second seed Upperman Friday at 5:30 p.m.
