Sinclair wins Fair 5K

Doris Graham took first in the women's division.

 

A young man from Carthage was the overall winner of the DeKalb County Fair 5K Saturday.

 

Matthew Sinclair took the top spot in the 5K with a time of 17:34. Aaron Gottlied earned second place overall, and Daren Oakley captured third.

 

Maddux Pyburn was the Fun Run winner, running the course in 12:20.

First place: Kaleb Spears

Second place: Mara Oakley

 

Women:

 

First place: Doris Graham

Second place: Andy Armstrong

Third place: Kelly Pyburn

 

Seniors

 

First place: Mark Sullivan

Second place: Brenda Hooper

 

Proceeds from the event this year were earmarked for the American Legion, a non-profit organization in DeKalb County which supports veterans.

 

In other events set for the remainder of the week at the fair, A kiddie tractor pull will be held at the grandstands at 6 p.m. on Wednesday. ATV and motorcycle racing will fire off at the T. C. McMillen Arena at 7 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday.

 

An ATV/Mini-Rod/Outlaw Pull will take place at T.C. McMillen Arena at 7 p.m. on Friday. The contest is open to all ATV’s, with a Stock Class, and a Modified Class.
