Smithville Golf Course Open for Play

The Smithville Golf Course has reopened to the public after being shut down due to the Covid-19 pandemic. While golfers can once again get out and enjoy the open-air venue, there are still some restrictions in place.

According to golf course manager, Jeanie Cawthorne, the course reopened April 20 to golfers, along with the tennis courts, after nearly a month of closure. While golfers are invited to come out and enjoy the grounds, there are some rules they will have to follow.

"We ask everyone to adhere to the six-foot social distancing requirements," Cawthorne told the Smithville Review. "We are also only allowing one person per golf cart." Cawthorne said the requirements are necessary to keep people safe during the pandemic, and to avoid another shut down at the course. "The Pro Shop will also be open, but we will only allow outside service. There will be a window at the pool area where check-in and customers will be served."

The golf course and Green Brook Park were closed in March by Smithville Mayor Josh Miller due to the pandemic. The walking trails at the park are open for use, but the playground, shelters and restrooms are closed.

Cawthorne said that currently the Golf Course's website is not functional and that golfers can call 615-597-6648 to book tee times. You can also visit the Smithville Golf Course through their Facebook page www.facebook.com/Smithville-Golf-Course-and-Swimming-Pool-547746389047683.  The course is open seven days a week.
