The Purple Pride Caravan is even bigger and better this summer, with a stop planned at the Smithville Walmart on Thursday, July 17.

The Purple Pride Caravan returns with 10 stops throughout the region to raise anticipation for the upcoming sports year. Every caravan is free and fans are encouraged to participate.

Several Tennessee Tech head coaches, cheerleaders, and Tech mascot Awesome Eagle will all be available to meet and hang out with, while fans can also enjoy hot dogs and soft drinks, completing the tailgate atmosphere.

The Smithville Caravan will feature head tennis coach Kenny Doyle as well as Jim Davis, head coach of the women’s basketball team. Doyle is a two-time winner of the Ohio Valley Conference Coach of the Year and is starting his sixth season as Tech’s head coach. Davis has shined at Tech as he begins his third year of coaching after many successful seasons in the Atlantic Coast Conference and the WNBA.

Each event will last 98 minutes and will include registration for a grand prize drawing, where one lucky fan will win a trip for two with the Golden Eagles to their Sept. 27 game at University of Northern Iowa.

Sponsored by 98.5 KISS FM, Pepsi and TTUsports.com, each Purple Pride Caravan event will begin at 5 p.m. and run until 6:38 p.m.

The grand prize registration will be done by 98.5 KISS FM (the home of Golden Eagle football broadcasts) at each of the stops. The winner will receive a TTU/Northern Iowa Flyaway Trip for two, including air travel, hotel accommodations, tickets to the game and meals.

No winners will be selected below the age of 18. Winner may not be a high school student-athlete or immediate family member of an athlete without jeopardizing collegiate eligibility at an NCAA institution. Complete rules for the contest can be found at the link below and also are posted on the Kissfm985.com website.

Following its stop in Smithville, the Purple Pride Caravan will be stopping at Cookeville, Carthage, Sparta, Livingston, McMinnville, Crossville and Cookeville before finishing at the Algood Walmart on Aug. 26, just two days before the Golden Eagle season opener in Tucker Stadium on Aug. 28 against Kentucky Christian.
