Since we last caught up with the DCHS soccer Tigers, they have been a busy squad, playing a raft of games, in addition to a two-day tournament at FCHS.
DeKalb traveled to White County on April 7, defeating the Warriors 3-0.
Miguel Rodriguez put the first one in the net for the Tigers at the 29 minute mark, and Bruno Ramirez scored again in the 34th minute with an assist by Brandon Leiser.
Leiser scored DeKalb’s final goal in the 75th minute. Brandon Ortega got the assist.
DeKalb hosted York Institute on April 9 and shut the Dragons out in an 11-0 match.
Goalie Skylar Pease put in five saves, Micah Merriman started off with a goal in the 11th minute of play with an assist from Miguel Rodriguez, then Miguel Rodriguez followed with another goal in the 12th minute. Bruno Ramirez assisted.
Two minutes later Roberto Mata scored again for the Tigers, then Brandon Leiser put one in with an assist from Miguel Rodriguez in the 15th minute.
Miguel Rodriguez scored two more times, and Daniel Munoz, Micah Merriman and Cristobal Flores all put points on the board between the 18-44 minute mark. Jose Torres scored with an assist from Mason Overbey in the 68th minute
Hunter Robinson capped DeKalb’s night with a goal in the 70th minute, with an assist from Cristobal Flores.
The Tigers traveled to Central Magnet on April 14, suffering a 5-1 loss.
DeKalb’s lone goal came from Roberto Mata in the 4th minute.
Sequatchie County came to DeKalb to play on April 16, and were sent home with a 9-1 loss on their record.
Goalie Skylar Pease contributed two saves to the Tiger defensive effort, and Jose Torres had one, while Miguel Rodriguez put DeKalb’s first goal through three minutes in.
Micah Merriman and Cristobal Flores followed with goals, and Miguel Rodriguez dropped another in with an assist from Micah Merriman in the 31st minute
Micah Merriman assisted a Dylan Easterwood score in the 38th minute, and Brady Gill, Brandon Leiser, Cristobal Flores and Noah Morris all added goals to the Tiger’s winning effort.
DeKalb opened the FCHS tournament with a 3-1 loss against Lincoln County on April 11 despite 11 saves by goalie Skylar Pease.
Cristobal Flores, with an assist from Micah Merriman, scored for the Tigers in the 11th minute.
A match that afternoon against Franklin County resulted in a 1-1 tie.
Goalie Skylar Pease posted 10 saves, and Cristobal Flores scored in the 14th minute with an assist from Micah Merriman.
DeKalb met White County on the second day of play, and another 1-1 tie was the result.

Meanwhile, the JV team participated as well, facing Shelbyville at 9 a.m. on the first day of play. DeKalb lost 3-0, though goalie Jose Torres recorded 19 saves.
The JV squad met Lincoln County that afternoon, and took the win in a 1-0 game. Goalie Jose Torres saved six, and David Herriott put the winning goal in.
The JV Team faced Tullahoma on the second day, tying them 0-0. Goalie Jose Torres had eight saves in the game.
DeKalb will host Livingston Academy on April 23, and Watertown will come to play the Tigers on April 28.
