Miguel Rodriguez W SM
DeKalb Countys Miguel Rodriguez takes control of the ball in the battle between DeKalb and Cannon County.

While rain delayed the season for the DCHS boys soccer team, they finally met Siegel High School in Murfreesboro in their first regular season game on March 17. In spite of 18 saves by Tiger goalie Skylar Pease, four goals from the foot of a single opponent put a damper on DeKalb’s parade.

Siegel player Reid Zingale put it in the net in the 31st, 38th, 45th and 77th minutes to endure the win for his team. The Tigers failed to score, coming home with a 4-0 loss to begin the season.

The DeKalb boys redeemed themselves when they faced the Cannon County Lions on March 19, however.

The Tigers outscored Cannon 5-3, with three saves from goalie Jose Torres and assists from Pablo Juarez, Brandon Leiser, and Miguel Rodriguez. Cristobal Flores put a goal in in the 17th minute, and another in the 27th minute the Tiger effort, while Rodriguez, Leiser, and Ramirez score in the 29th, 48th, and 55th minutes, respectively.

The Tigers are set to meet Smith County at home on March 24 at 6:30 p.m., then will travel to Cumberland County on March 27 to play at 5 p.m.
