Sports swing into spring
DCHS baseball

It’s almost spring, which means young people all over DeKalb County are taking off their winter coats and dusting off their cleats.

Kids will soon begin swinging bats all over Smithville. The DCHS Tiger baseball team will begin their regular season on March 14 at 5 p.m., facing Eagleville at home. They will then meet White County in Smithville on March 15 at 5 p.m. before embarking on a five-game road session.

The DCHS Tigerette softball team will also begin the 2016 season on March 14, traveling to Jackson County. They will return to Smithville to square off against York Institute at 4:30 p.m. on March 15 before participating in the Gordonsville tournament in Cookeville March 18-19.

The DMS Lady Saints began the softball season on March 7 at Cannon County, and will play three more road games before coming back to Smithville to face Prescott Middle on March 21 at 5 p.m.

The DWS Bulldogs have started playing baseball, and will next face Walter J. Baird on March 10 at 5 p.m.

Though there are no bats involved, there will be plenty of action when the DCHS boy’s soccer team hosts a playday on March 12. The team will begin season play with a home game against Cumberland County at 7 p.m. on March 18.

The DMS soccer team will begin season play on March 10, meeting Smith County in Smithville at 5:30 p.m.
