It took three minutes of extra time but the DeKalb County Tigers escaped Stone Memorial with their perfect record still intact thanks to a Cristobal Flores goal in the 93rd minute this past weekend.

Ealy Gassaway triggered the attack that led to the Cristobal goal and the 3-2 win and a perfect 7-0 record for the Tigers. The goal came in extra time and was one of the two netted by Flores in the contest. His first came in the ninth minute thanks to an assist by Luke Bryant. Will Stephens joined the scoring list just two minutes later, hitting the back of the net with an assist by Flores. However, the Tiger strikers would go quiet until the magic goal in the 93rd minute. In the meantime, Goalie Wesley Carpenter limited the hosts to just two goals, making 11 saves along the way.

The win was doubly sweet as the junior varsity started the night with a 1 to nil win thanks to a Luke Jenkins' goal with Brian Balderas assist in the 28th minute and three Tristan McDerman saves in the net.

The win and continuation of perfection came just three days after the Tigers hammered White County 7-1 behind a hat trick plus one by Flores who scored four goals in his season for the record books. Alan Munoz contributed two goals while Luke Bryant had one in their conquering of the Warriors. Wesley Carpenter minded the net with seven saves in goal.

The Tigers will put their perfect record to the test last night as they traveled to Upperman for another district battle. They defeated Upperman here 5-1 earlier this month. The Tigers are 4-0 in the district. They will play Cumberland County here this Thursday. They defeated the Jets 3-0 on their pitch earlier this month. The rematch with Stone Memorial will be here this Tuesday.
