An early goal lifted the Tigers over the visiting Panthers of Stone Memorial 2-0 as the Tigers got a key district win on their home pitch this past week as they look toward the tournament.

Alex Avina-Colwell kicked things off right when he fired a laser on goal in the fifth minute to give the Tigers the early advantage. The Tigers would add to their lead in the 31st minute when Tanner Myers hit the back of the Panther net with an assist from Luke Bryant.

The win completes the district regular season schedule with the Tigers finishing 2-2, their losses coming at home to Crossville, 5-2 and then on the road against Livingston Academy, 5-4 when the game finished in a shootout with penalty kicks. They have won their last two district games in shutout fashion as they buzzed the Bees of Upperman 7-0 last week. Their overall record is 3-5-3.

They are slated to travel to Crossville May 7 to play Stone Memorial in the first round of the district tournament. A loss in that game would end the Tiger season. However, a win would advance them to the finals of the tourney and give them a spot in the regional playoff. They will play in the finals May 9 if they clear the first hurdle. In the meantime, senior night is slated for Thursday, May 2 in Smithville.
