DCHS senior Mallory Sullivan played a the Class A/AA State Golf Tournament on Oct. 4 at Willowbrook Golf Club in Manchester, where she tied for fifth place. Sullivan had advanced to the tournament by winning the Region 4-A/AA Golf tourney at White Plains in Cookeville, becoming the only female golfer from DCHS to compete in the state tournament all four years.
Sullivan had a 82-75 -157, just one stroke away from a medal at the state tournament.
Senior Sophia Schubert of Christian Academy in Knoxville took the individual girl's title (73-68 -141) 11-under runner-up Allyson Dunn of Sullivan South (75-77 -152).
Kaitlin Cartwright of Macon County was third (79-76 -155) with Clarksville Academy’s Anna Michelle Moore coming in fourth (78-78 -156).
Siarra Stout of Christ Presbyterian Academy tied with Sullivan for fifth (74-83 -157).
Sullivan had advanced to the state tournament by winning the Region 4-A/AA Golf tournament in September at White Plains in Cookeville with a 3-under 69.
Sullivan matches former DCHS golfer Payne Denman, who advanced to the state tournament each of his four years in the boys competition. Denman is currently a junior at Middle Tennessee State University.
Bethany Burns of Signal Mountain came in second with a 1-under 71, while Macon County’s Kaitlin Cartwright had a 72.
Macon County took the team title with a 158, while Signal Mountain had a 163. Clay County had 171, Central Magnet 173, Chattanooga Christian 182 and DeKalb County came away with 187.
DeKalb County's Lexy Spry had a score of 118.
DeKalb County's Ethan Roller shot a 78 in the boy’s competition while Dylan Young had an 80.
