The Lady Tigers were in a bad way after first-quarter play, as Macon County held a 19-5 head start over DeKalb County.
Not gaining or losing any ground in the second quarter, DeKalb still was on the comeback trail, down 36-22 at the break.
Led on offense by Lady Tiger Lydia Brown – who shot a game-high 22 points with 15 from outside the arc – DeKalb made a second-half comeback but fell just short by five points at the buzzer.
“I’m really proud of the way the kids came back and responded,” said Lady Tiger Head Coach Danny Fish.
“Number seven team in the state, at their place on senior night, it would have been very easy for our girls to just cut and run right there but they didn’t they kept playing; I’m really proud of our kids.
Even though we lost that game, it was a big momentum boost for us by the way we’ve been playing. So that’s a good game for us to go into the district tournament with.”
Also adding to the total tally were Joni Robinson with 10 points, Emme Colwell 9 and Megan Walker and Kenzi France both scored 2 points each.
For the Tigerettes, Keeley Carter was top scorer with 13 points in the game.
