The DeKalb County tennis teams will be competing in individual contests beginning Thursday as they travel to Cookeville for the district tournament.
The postseason comes after the boys were able to nail down second place during the regular season in the district. The boys had team had wins over Warren County, White County, Stone Memorial, and Livingston Academy in the district while losing only to Cookeville High School.
In one of their last regular seasons games, the DeKalb County teams traveled to Sparta to take on the White County Warriors. The boys’ team swept the home team 6-0 clinching second place in the district with the win which allows them to advance to the district semi-finals. Winners were Lance Davis, Eli Cantrell, Garrett Hayes, and Dosson Medlin all winning singles matches. In doubles both Davis/Medlin and Cantrell/Hayes teamed up for the wins. On the girls side Kayley Padilla won her match while the other members of the team were upset by the White County team.
Both the girls and boys teams will be playing in individual (singles and doubles) district tournament in Cookeville on Thursday May 2.
