Three members of the Tiger baseball team have been named all-district.

Three members of the 2019 Tiger baseball squad have been named to the all-district team.

Derek Young, Skyler Sparks and Logan Cornelius were voted the honor of being named to the District 8AA all-district team, meaning they were considered by the coaches of the district as some of the best players in 8AA.

Logan Cornelius earned his way into the all-district team by knocking the cover off the ball during the Tiger season. Cornelius had a .464 batting average his senior year during his 56 visits to the dish. He accounted for 15 RBIs and had two dingers during the Tigers’ 14-14 season which ended in the semi-final round of the district tournament with a loss to Upperman. Along with his hitting, Cornelius worked 23 innings on the mound, fanning 24 batters on the way to a 3.45 earned run average.

Fellow senior Derek Young visited the dish 70 times during the season and finished with a .357 batting average. He led his team on the season with 23 RBIs.

Junior Skyler Sparks rounded out the district selections. He posted a .423 batting average according to Game Changer stats. He batted in 17 runners and had two home runs during the 2019 campaign.
