The DCHS Tiger Soccer Team finished as runner up in the District Tournament Championship Game dropping a 2-0 game to Central Magnet on May 7.
In the first round of the tourney, DeKalb took Cannon County apart with a 7-1 win on May 4.
Brandon Leiser put the ball in the back of the net in the 47th and 67th minute for DeKalb, Christobal Flores scored in the 49th minute, Miguel Rodriguez in the 52nd, 56th, and 59th minute, and David Herriott in the 73rd minute. Bruno Ramirez had an assisted Miguel Rodriguez in the 52nd minute and Dylan Easterwood got an assist on David Herriott’s goal. Goalie Skylar Pease had 11 saves in the match.
The Tigers met Goodpasture on May 5, clocking a 3-1 win in the second round of the tournament.
Cristobal Flores put DeKalb’s first goal in with an assist from Micah Merriman in the 33rd minute of play, while Brandon Ortega scored with another Merriman assist in the 34th minute. Brandon Leiser capped the DeKalb offensive effort with a goal in the 76th minute, and Skylar Pease again had 11 saves.
The meeting with Central Magnet did not go so smoothly, and DeKalb was handed a 2-0 loss in the championship game despite another 11 saves by Skyler Pease.
District award winners were recognized after the game, and Brandon Leiser, Jonathan Munoz, Micah Merriman and Joan Gopar were chosen for the First Team All-District. Brandon Chapman and Roberto Mata were named to the Second Team All-District, and Coach of the Year honors went to Coach Dylan Kleparek.
