The DeKalb County Tiger soccer team has had an amazing week.
The team played three district championship games this week, the first against York, then another against Livingston, and a final battle for the title against Friendship Christian School.
The Tigers enjoyed a mile-stone victory, taking the district gold for the first time in their nine year history with a 2-1 win against FCS.
The game against York on Monday was almost a warm-up for the Tigers.
DeKalb demolished their opponent with a final score of 14-0.
Javier Sanchez, Cameron Lester, Ben Pafford, and other players all made multiple goals.
Wesley Burchfield made his first goal ever from a penalty kick.
The ball remained at the York goalpost most of the game, but the defense made many great plays.
The offense also made phenomenal passes and worked well together.
Tuesday night's game was against Livingston.
After the Tigers first ever win against the team a week before, the Tigers were looking for more action.
The game did indeed have much action.
Four minutes into the game, goal scoring machine Javier Sanchez put the first score on the board with an assist from Ben Pafford.
With 13 minutes expired from the clock an uproar broke out in the stands.
During a play the whistle was blown, it was short but still heard. A player from Livingston and one of the Tigers continued down the field, while all other players stopped.
The player from Livingston ended up scoring but it should not have counted. When  the goal ended up counting the crowd went mad and players on the field began to shout.
The referee eventually made the call and the goal was taken off the board.
The remainder of the game saw three more goals for the Tigers from Javier Sanchez and Juan Torres, and multiple saves by Weston Rhody.
The final score was 4-0.
The Championship game was played Thursday night at Friendship Christian School.
It started as a hot afternoon but ended in storms and rain.
The game kicked off with both teams at their best. The ball continued to go back and fourth until after seven minutes Friendship scored.
The Tigers kicked it into high gear after the goal, and from then on the ball remained on the Friendship side of the field.
With 20 minutes remaining in the first half Javier Sanchez scored, leveling the playing field 1-1.
The next goal took 12 minutes to make but it was a nice one. After an assist, Javier Sanchez kicked the ball right into the goal.
The second half began but did not make it very far.
Lightning was seen in the sky and the game was postponed until the Lightning stopped.
When it did not let up and it began to get dark, the Referees decided to end the game and the Tigers were declared District 8 A-AA Champions.
The Tigers have another achievement in the district. Weston Rhody was named District 8 A-AA Goalie of the Year.
The Tigers now advance to Regional Championships where it is sure to be a great couple of games.
The Regional games will be held at home.
